However, for those profs that do work to help graduates find meaningful opportunities, keep in mind that by doing so, you're enhancing the value and credibility of your departments.The relationships developed with such graduates should result in further recruitment gains. So when you're helping grads establish career paths, ask them to reciprocate by sharing word-of-mouth accounts of their experiences with potential students. Networking is a two-way street and all parties should benefit. Unfortunately, not all professors are proactive as Ms. Matthews.
