Glad I&#039;m not in the job hunt.  Hard to know what really matters.  The &quot;movers &amp; shakers&quot; on Twitter only follow other M&amp;S&#039;s and rarely acknowledge any &quot;replies&quot; unless you save their asses from some technical conundrum.  And then you get a  &quot;Thank You All...&quot; I suspect that success in Social Media is not because of success in social media but the result of the basic achievement.  Be the one of the best at what you do in &quot;real life&quot;.   Establish  yourself as the necessary person: the go-to guy.  Physically get with and romance other people who count and have fun doing it all.  In any work environment, the subject matter experts are known.  The task is becoming a SME. So I think Social Media is a way of leveraging existiing competence.  Nobody yet has offered my a cookbook deal for my Facebook (prettily photgraphed) pasta sauce recipe.  Or invited me to broadcast my succinct political analysis.  But I don&#039;t care.  The is good side.
